To make the sauce add the blueberries to a small sauce pan. Add water to cover. Add the sugar and butter. Cook over high heat to reduce the water. When it has reduced add maple syrup, about ½ cup. Cook until it reaches a syrup consistency. (Mine took about 10 minutes)
Beat eggs with milk in a pie pan. Add bread and allow it to soak up the egg mixture. Heat a sauté pan and add equal amounts of oil and butter. Cook French toast until it is browned on both sides.
