Red Velvet 7 Layer Bars

Serves: 16 big bars
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon liquid red food coloring
- 1 1/3 cups sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup walnuts
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix together in a small bowl, the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
- Cream together the butter and sugar. Mix together for 3 minutes.
- Add the egg, buttermilk and red food coloring. Mix thoroughly.
- Add the flour mixture. Mix well.
- Spray a 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray. Add a layer of parchment paper that overhangs the sides if you want to be able to cut them into bars easier.
- Spread the red velvet cake batter on the bottom of the pan. Bake this for 10 minutes. Remove from oven.
- Top with the coconut, the chocolate chips, the white chocolate chips and then the walnuts.
- Pour the can of sweetened condensed milk over everything.
- Bake for another 25 minutes. Let set for at least 2 hours before cutting.
