Red Velvet 7 Layer Bars

Layer of red velvet cake, topped with chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, coconut, walnuts and sweetened condensed milk.
Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon liquid red food coloring
  • 1 1/3 cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup walnuts
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix together in a small bowl, the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar. Mix together for 3 minutes.
  4. Add the egg, buttermilk and red food coloring. Mix thoroughly.
  5. Add the flour mixture. Mix well.
  6. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray. Add a layer of parchment paper that overhangs the sides if you want to be able to cut them into bars easier.
  7. Spread the red velvet cake batter on the bottom of the pan. Bake this for 10 minutes. Remove from oven.
  8. Top with the coconut, the chocolate chips, the white chocolate chips and then the walnuts.
  9. Pour the can of sweetened condensed milk over everything.
  10. Bake for another 25 minutes. Let set for at least 2 hours before cutting.
