Roasted Cabbage Steaks #Sunday Supper

Thick cut cabbage slices steamed in the oven, then roasted and broiled to finish.
  • 1 head cabbage
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic salt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Cut the cabbage into slices 1 - 1 1/4 inches thick. Place on a sprayed cookie sheet.
  3. Add the salt, pepper and garlic salt.
  4. Turn over, add a little more salt, pepper and garlic salt.
  5. Spread a thin layer of butter over top.
  6. Add water around the cabbage.
  7. Cover pan with foil.
  8. Bake covered for 15 minutes. Remove foil and turn cabbage over.
  9. Bake another 5 - 10 minutes without foil until cabbage is tender.
  10. Turn on broiler.
  11. Add a little butter to the top of the cabbage.
  12. Broil cabbage until it starts to turn brown.
